In spite of the heat and dry conditions, the daylily continues to be the jewel of the gardens. What a wonderful surprise awaits every new day, as the daylilies have rearranged themselves to make a fresh bouquet. Peak bloom time for the daylily is upon us here in northeast Ohio.
Talk a walk with me to see what awaits us in the garden.
An overall view of an area of the garden.
Let’s look at individual faces, this is Border Music
Palace Garden Beauty, truly beautiful.
Magnificent Rainbow, a later blooming daylily that has just started to bloom
A couple of blooms, posing together, these are both small blooms at under 3 inches.
Siloam Tiny Tim on the left and Summer Echoes on the right.
Another pairing, of Black Fathom Depths on the left, and Celestial Shores, both wonderful garden plants.
Another couple of daylilies, Trump Card on the left and Hayride Kisses.
Desperado Love, I would say it is among my favorites, a later bloomer, with good increase and a high bud count.
Oh, so many daylilies!! Prickled Petals, a very pretty flower.
Mystery Achievement, a wonderful Hanson daylily.
Aegean Wind looks like it is floating in the air, such a delicate look on a tough garden plant.
Jellyfish Jealousy. If the petals are held out, the bloom would span 9 inches.
Another unusual form daylily, Premium Cream, also measures out at over 7 inches.
It is a great time to be in the garden with all the daylilies in bloom
I’ll end with a big daylily smile!! Do you see it? I do! Happy Gardening.

I see the smile! What gorgeous blooms! Up here in Quebec we don’t seem to have such large flowers – and mine are only just starting. Great photos!
I’m glad you see the smile!! A lot of my blooms are smaller this year too!! The weather just won’t settle down, too hot, too dry and then cold. Not good for getting the best out of the blooms.
Your gardens are beautiful, are you allowing visitors this year, if so when is a good time??
Sue, yes visitors are welcomed in the gardens this year. Typically I am around most days, but I do set aside Saturdays until about 4:00 for visitors, except this Saturday, the 14th I will be at the National Daylily Convention!! If you see my car in the garage, stop!!
I so enjoy reading your posts. Lovely pics. I see the smile — what is the name of the yellow bloom maiing up the smile – it’s a beauty.
Oh thanks Maureen, that smile on the daylily face is Web of Intrigue, it bloomed early and now put up a rebloom scape, so it must be very happy!
Oh, my goodness! These are absolutely beautiful, Cindy! I know you must be having the best time right now. Out of all the beauties, ‘Prickled Petals,’ ‘Magnificent Rainbow’ and ‘Desperado Love’ take the cake for me.
I thoroughly enjoyed my walk through your lovely garden.
Thanks, it is the best time at peak, and then we can look forward to the rebloom, I hope I have rebloom like you have!
